Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the team access locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.

Fans can anticipate discovering which players will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
