Major Moscow's Attacks Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while local people in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to water systems, as stated by local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has intensified attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while officials has requested "substantial measures" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 rockets attacked energy facilities, labeling such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

Area administrators said the city endured heavy assaults overnight. A minor was killed and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks follow periods of bombing campaigns in the territory, parts of which are occupied by invading troops.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to identify.

National leaders told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to demolish the national power system, with attacks already affecting fuel infrastructure.

He said energy workers and officials were bracing for additional strikes.
